DJ Badger: The News and the Journal

I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Okay...

I'm sitting here, finishing off the remnants of a real glass bottle (yes, I'll recycle it) of Orange Crush, fresh from the shower and smelling like Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Vanille Coco (an amazing unisex coconut fragrance).  It's been a decent weekend, not too hectic but not too wonderful either.  I have a lot of catching up to do here on the site (as well as elsewhere in my life).

I told myself I wasn't going to let the site lapse this much ever, ever again.  Then, after the Mary Kate + Ashley Turn 18 party (http://www.olsenparty.com) about a month and a half ago, I just kind of went into a state of site-update catatonia.  Sorry about that.

The new single has finally been released!
Yes, on June 12th, at the big party, I finally released my second single, "Gypsy Drama."  I don't have enough time to go into the details, but I'm very pleased with it and I think it's some of my best work to date.  I will have to tell more about it in the next update; heck, I haven't even updated the Zonen Records site with the details about it yet.

The twins turned 18.
Did the party go well?  Yep.  It did.  There were tons of people there, and it's my understanding that the Gypsy Coffee House made more money that night than any other night in well over a year - and that includes my friend Captain Chambers' film festival last November.  How cool is that?

Personally, I have to say, I was happy with the turnout, and happy with how well the party went, but not thrilled with my emotional state afterwards.  I had put together the artwork for Gypsy Drama the night before, and stayed up all night getting music together and whatnot.  I had already driven my bank account into a state of very uncomfortable debt (which turned out worse than expected) since I'd been the one purchasing all of the door prizes and party favoures along with five - count 'em, five new light effect machines.  Hardly anyone danced, but for a few songs.  I sold three copies of the new single total.

Two weeks later, it seems as if almost everyone had completely forgotten the party ever happened.

All that being said, I count the party as somewhat of a success.  I have asked the owner of the Gypsy if we can do it again, and I've been given the green light.  So, the half-my-life party might be coming soon, i.e. October/November.  (Geez, where have we heard that before?)  We'll see.

People whom I really expected at the party
but didn't make it:

Captain (thanks, Pal)
Fae
Holly
Donivan
Darin

People whom I didn't really think would make it
but they did, and I was completely thrilled:

Brandon
Barry
Sherry
Derek
Barbara

My car got totalled... did I tell you yet?
Yeah, I'm not sure if I've mentioned it here before, but for some reason I figured I should hold off on it.  Back in April, five years to the month after I lost my beloved Beretta in an auto accident, my also-beloved Saturn was totalled while sitting in front of the Gypsy Coffee House.  Luckily, I wasn't in it at the time.  Apparently some jackass was driving down Cincinnatti in the rain, swerved over (hopefully by accident), smashed into the back of my car, then drove off.  This living, breathing piece of monkey crap proceeded to pull into a parking lot a couple of blocks down the road, get out of his car (apparently to check it for damages), get back into his car, and drive off.

A police report was filed, but unfortunately the cops haven't found him.  My car was smashed in the back so badly that the trunk was about half-caved-in.  The back right corner was so damaged that the car was completely undrivable.  Plus, as an added bonus, my car was propelled forward into my girlfriend's car, damaging it badly enough that the back bumper had to be torn off, but luckily not rendering it as useless as mine (it still works).

I've been doing some tentative DJ work at a new place.
Okay, here's where things get a little trippy.  A few weeks back, while chillin' at the Gypsy, I had a chance meeting with DJ Stigmata, the resident DJ at Club OFF, the official members-only gathering place of the Oklahoma Fetish Factory.  Yes, that's right, the Oklahoma Fetish Factory - a club of people who are into fetishes and bondage and other such weirdness.

Having chatted with others who were involved with the Oklahoma Fetish Factory, I knew a little about it, though I'd never actually been to Club OFF.  I talked a great deal with Stigmata about the place, and then I got a chance to bring up my equipment and do a DJ set there.  It went well, so I tried it again, and again.  In fact, over the last few weeks, I've actually spun more music there than Stigmata himself.  It's been enjoyable, and the proprietors have really dug my work.

Note:  I am not the official resident DJ of Club OFF at this point, so please don't make that presumption.  I just go up and spin tunes from time to time.  :)  And, in case you're wondering, yes, I have seen some very interesting things while spinning.  I can't go into detail here, but yes... very strange, unusual, um, interesting things.

Anyway, I will post a great deal more information about the club thing as it develops.  For more information about the Oklahoma Fetish Factory, feel free to check out http://www.oklahomafetishfactory.com.

Oh, and in case you're wondering...  Do I have any fetishes?  Heh.  No comment!

More updates very soon...  I hope!
