 Assimilation
          DM Tribute Night THIS SATURDAY!
 Current Mood:  Disappointed.
          Current Scent:  None.
Hi,
          everyone.Well,
I've got good news, and I've got bad news.  The good news outweighs
the bad, and I'll head right into the good: Assimilation's
Depeche Mode Tribute Night is this Saturday - only four nights
away.  I'm excited - tremendously so.  This is my first performance
in conjunction with the biggest and best series of electronic/industrial/gothic
events that Tulsa has to offer. So,
it's an honour to have been chosen for this event.   The
          bad news is this: My
full-production remix of "Enjoy the Silence," which I had
planned for months to debut at this very event, will not be completed
in time for this Saturday. I've
got a good chunk of it done, but it's simply not ready yet.  There's
no way it will be "ready enough" in time for Assimilation's
DM Tribute Night, and given the amount of respect and love I have for
"Enjoy the Silence," I can't allow myself to just throw something
together and present a "half-assed" remix effort. It's
a lot more difficult to do production than it used to be, now that I
have a two and a half year old to take care of.  If I try to get
any remix work done, my son X often decides it's the best time to interrupt
me.  Far too often, especially over the last few months, I have
found myself too exhausted to do any remixing or production.  In
fact, recently when I've been putting him to bed, I've often found myself
simply passing out with him. I
know that if I had really forced myself to have the remix complete by
now, I could have.  I should have.  I should have
rescheduled less important things and produced an absolutely incredible
          new remix by now. Well,
I didn't, and I apologize to anyone who may feel let down by this.
I still hope to play "Enjoy the Silence," and yes, I plan
on playing a rare remix of it... just not one that I have personally
          produced. I
do plan (hope!) to at least have one other brand-new DJ Badger remix
to spin at the event.  Yes, it will be a remix of a Depeche Mode
song.  No, I can't go into more detail at this time.   All
that being said...  If you like Depeche Mode, or old school electronic
music, or electronic music in general, please plan on attending this
          event. Also
          - and this is IMPORTANT - please remember that in addition to being
a giant Depeche Mode party, this is also a canned food drive.
The canned food items collected will be donated to feed those who are
hungry and less fortunate.  As an added incentive, if you bring
in at least one canned food item, you get to knock a dollar off the
already dirt cheap $5.00 entry fee. I've
got lots of stuff to do between then and now, and I've got a great set
planned, including some classics and some major surprises (by Depeche
Mode and many others).  Hope to see lots of you there. Thanks, Badger |
