A
remarkable evening experience...
Current Mood: Eerily peaceful..
Current Scent: None.
I
just had one of the coolest late evening experiences I've had in a good
long time.
For
the last several minutes, I was sitting on the sidewalk, about midway
between my front door and the street, with the wind whistling through
the trees around me and lightning strobing in multiple directions (but
not directly above). I'm sure there was rain somewhere out there,
but it wasn't close to hitting here.
I
was just sitting, cross-legged, on the sidewalk, with the laptop on
my lap and a freshly-punctured "Berry Tangerine Morning" Capri
Sun next to me.
The
air smelled like lavender. It smelled like a lavender dryer sheet,
but I'm not sure that it was coming from anyone's dryer vent.
In fact, I have no idea of the source of the smell... but it was remarkable.
The
atmosphere didn't feel like summer. It was cool. According
to what I understand, it's supposed to be 84 degrees out there... but
it sure didn't feel like it.
It
just felt peaceful. I wasn't under the influence of anything (unless
you count the Capri Sun and the weather). It was a significant
and rare feeling of placidity, and for just a few minutes, it felt like
I had escaped the various stresses that have plagued me as of late.
I
came back in as the winds started getting a bit too aggressive.
My
God, what a remarkable evening.
