Depeche Mode
Tribute Night 1.5

SATURDAY
JUNE 27TH, 2015
7:00 PM
LOT NO. 6

Like Depeche Mode?  Oh, you're gonna LOVE this night!

In the history of ResurXtion, one of the most popular nights so far has been the "Depeche Mode Redux" Night in November 2014.  So, with DM freak Badger taking over the reins from Jessy James, it was decided that we would have another Depeche Mode night... and probably would make it a twice-a-year event!  (So, if you were wondering, that's why this is "Depeche Mode Tribute Night 1.5.")

At this party, you'll hear tracks that span the gamut of their career, from Speak and Spell to Delta Machine, including an absolute slew of rare remixes and B-sides.  Solo works from Martin Gore and Dave Gahan will be included, as will tracks by Alan Wilder's Recoil.

And, of course, you'll hear plenty of 80s/90s classics by other alternative/synthpop/new wave artists mixed in as well - all delivered with a fantastic light, sound and laser system provided by Awesome Retro DJ Service.

BADGER

Tulsa's DJ Badger has been actively DJing for over twenty-five years, earning the respect of party crowds and his peers with his enduring old-school approach to performing.  Badger still prefers to mix using genuine vinyl on turntables (with CDs when necessary), without a laptop.  He has been featured on the main stages of 80s Prom and That 90s Party (twice each), as well as at SRO Remix, The Great Gypsy Chillout, Retro Without Shame, the Tulsa Vinyl Society's Vinyl Brunch, and lots more.  He made his ResurXtion debut at ResurXtion 14 (Cure Tribute, "Our Last Dance Together").   His most recent major event has been "An Old School Techno Night" in March 2015.

Some who have been in the scene a while will recognize Badger as a member of the "Edge of Insanity" alternative radio crew in the early 1990s.  He has also worked as a music journalist, with a regular remix review column in the nationally-published Karaoke and DJ USA in the late 1990s.  In addition, he is the former manager/DJ of EKG Pro Mobile Music and the current owner/DJ of Awesome Retro DJ Service.

Badger is also considered one of the foremost Depeche Mode collectors in the area, owning practically everything they've ever released (including over 300 pieces of DM vinyl!) and countless ultra-rare remixes on DJ-only promo compilations.  He has seen them nine times in concert from 1990 to 2013, and has considered them his favourite band since 1987.

SOKMONKEY

Joining us from Oklahoma City is special guest DJ Sokmonkey, who is probably best-known to Tulsa music fans as one of the longtime DJs for Re:Mission Entertainment's "Assimilation" events.  Sokmonkey (who says he "still can't kill the name" after 17 years of club DJing) loves playing music, from 80s, goth industrial, IDM, old school hip-hop to witchhouse to jazz and everything in between.  If people will dance to it, he'll bring it.

His experience includes six years as a weekly resident at the WreckRoom, three years as a weekly resident at the Sidecar, countless appearances at Assimilation in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City, 80s Prom, Disco Bloodbath, and lots of assorted one-off parties.  It's an honour to have him with us for this event!
