NITRO:
A common slang term for nitro glycerin, often used to describe
anything explosive, exciting, or significantly powerful.
Also the name of the venue for this event.
GEN:
Short
for "genesis," a term representing a foundation;
a beginning; an origin.
NITRO/GEN:
A presentation of classics from the foundation/origin of
alternative/club dance music in a exciting and creative
manner.
If
you love classic alternative/synthpop/new wave club music
- served up with a good dose of industrial and a dash of old
school techno and the occasional classic house tune - then
Nitro/Gen is the party for you.
If
you fondly remember late nights in Tulsa dancing away the
hours at long-gone Tulsa clubs such as Beat Club, the [original]
Max, Circa, Ikon, etc... then you'll probably enjoy what we
have to offer at Nitro/Gen.
Nitro/Gen
explores a variety of classic alt/club sub-genres from the
80s and 90s. On a given night, you could hear tracks
from New Order, the Cure, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Nitzer
Ebb, Moby, Tears for Fears, Front 242, Book of Love, the Prodigy,
Nine Inch Nails, Duran Duran, a Guy Called Gerald, and Apotheosis.
Remixes
are plentiful at Nitro/Gen, with a slew of
rare versions played at every session. DJs are welcomed
to play both classic remixes and more modernized remixes of
dance classics, as long as the general integrity of the songs
remains intact.
Nitro/Gen
features a variety of ADDED club light effects on top of Nitro
Lounge's own light system, including some amazing, out-of-production
vintage lighting provided by Tulsa's Awesome Retro
DJ Service. The Nitro/Gen
light system evolves and changes often, so every time you
come back to a Nitro/Gen party, the light
experience will probably be a little different.
