A
musical legacy: Almost thirty years' worth of electronic music.
If you don't know who Depeche
Mode are... Here are the basics.
There were these four guys
in England.
They started an electronic
band, they recorded an album, and then the main songwriter left.
Then the fuzzy-headed guy
started doing most of the songwriting, and they got a new guy, and they
all stuck together recording music for about thirteen years. The
lead singer picked up a heroin habit, died for a couple of minutes,
then dropped said heroin habit.
The new guy left, and then
the remaining three continued to do albums for another, well, thirteen
years. That's about where we are now.
Since their inception, Depeche
Mode have grown to be considered one of the most important and influential
electronic acts of all time.
Sounds of the Universe...
This party is a celebration
of the brand new Depeche Mode album, Sounds of the Universe.
It is Depeche Mode's 12th studio album, and it is set to hit retail
outlets on April 21st. The debut album, "Wrong," has
one of the most dark and disturbing videos to come along in a while.

the video.)
The music will include plenty
of great tracks from the new album, but will also range all the way
through their history back to their first album, Speak and Spell.
Special DJ TMJ Pre-Show
Set: 7:30 PM
DM fan and collector TMJ
will start things off at 7:30 with a special pre-show DJ set, combining
some of his favourite Mode tracks (including some of his own remix productions
and mash-ups) with some Depeche Mode cover songs by other artists.
The Main Event:
DJ Badger: 9:00 PM
At 9:00, Badger kicks off
the main event: Four hours of Depeche Mode, with a few
Dave Gahan side project tracks thrown in. This set will include
a slew of new tracks, classic hits, ultra-rare promotional and DJ-only
remixes, and even a selection of amazing B-sides that only the most
die-hard Mode fans will recognize.
Badger has stated that for
this event, "The emphasis of the set will be on track selection
and overall energy, not the technical mixing itself. So, you can
expect most of the songs to be played in their entirety... not just
a verse's worth before moving on to the next track."
